Mr. Rachid Hachichi is a highly experienced engineer and leader in the energy sector. He holds a State Engineer degree from the National Institute of Hydrocarbons and Chemistry (INHC) in Boumerdes, where he graduated as the top of his class in 1987.

Mr. Hachichi began his career at SONATRACH in September 1987, where he worked in the southernmost part of Algeria for 27 years. During this time, he held various key positions, starting as a Field Engineer for 9 years. His dedication and expertise led to his promotion to Head of Service for 8 years, followed by a role as Head of Division for 5 years. He then served as Regional Production Director at STAH for another 5 years, further honing his leadership and operational skills in the oil and gas industry.

In 2014, Mr. Hachichi transitioned to the central offices in Algiers, where he took on several strategic roles. These included Director of the Production Division, Vice-President of Upstream / PI, and Advisor to the CEO. He also served as Director of the HSE Division and returned to lead the Production Division for a second tenure. His contributions during this period played a crucial role in the company’s continued growth and success.

On April 24, 2019, Mr. Hachichi was appointed CEO of SONATRACH, where he focused on driving innovation and enhancing the company’s position in the global energy market. In October 2023, he was appointed President and CEO, further cementing his influential role in shaping the future of Algeria’s energy sector. In addition to his executive duties, he continues to serve as an Advisor to the CEO, contributing to the strategic direction of SONATRACH.

With decades of expertise and leadership experience, Mr. Rachid Hachichi remains a key figure in the oil and gas industry, guiding SONATRACH toward continued success and global recognition.
