The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Libya Section has confirmed its partnership with the Libya Energy & Economic Summit (LEES) 2026, returning as a key partner for the event scheduled for January 24-26 in Tripoli. SPE Libya will lead technical sessions as part of the program, highlighting innovation, digital transformation and workforce development in Libya’s oil and gas industry.
SPE Libya continues to drive talent development through its Energy Generation Initiative, launched in 2025 in partnership with the Ministry of Oil and Gas. The program equips young professionals with the technical and digital competencies needed for an evolving energy landscape and complements the section’s support for student chapters at Libyan institutions such as the University of Tripoli and Misurata University.
“SPE Libya is committed to advancing technical excellence and innovation in the country’s oil and gas sector. Our participation at LEES 2026 will further highlight the importance of digital transformation and workforce development for sustainable industry growth,” said Samir Guma Elamri, Program Chairperson, SPE Libya.
Founded to promote the exchange of technical knowledge among energy professionals, SPE Libya serves as the national arm of the International Society of Petroleum Engineers, which connects members spanning more than 140 countries. At the 2025 edition of LEES, SPE Libya hosted a series of professional sessions exploring the role of emerging technologies – including big data analytics, cloud computing, AI and IoT – while highlighting the need for workforce reskilling to meet the industry’s evolving demands.
“SPE Libya’s expertise and leadership in technical innovation and talent development add substantial value to the summit program. We look forward to engaging discussions that will help drive the country’s oil and gas sector forward,” said James Chester, CEO, Energy Capital & Power.
