National Oil Corporation Confirms Strategic Endorsement of Libya Energy & Economic Summit 2025
The National Oil Corporation of Libya (NOC) has announced its official support for the highly anticipated third edition of the Libya Energy & Economic Summit (LEES), taking place in Tripoli on January 18-19, 2025. Building on the resounding success of its 2021 and 2024 editions, LEES has established itself as Libya’s premier platform for mobilizing private sector investment, unlocking energy potential and fostering transformative partnerships.
This collaboration underscores the NOC’s ambitious strategy to position Libya as a leading energy powerhouse. With a bold vision to increase oil production to 2 million barrels per day and natural gas output to 4 billion cubic feet per day within the next five years, the NOC is spearheading key initiatives to achieve its targets, including 45 greenfield and brownfield projects in the pipeline. Additionally, the NOC is reactivating 36 dormant oil wells, upgrading critical infrastructure such as the North Hamada oil field pipeline, and preparing for an oil and gas licensing round in 2025 that will offer 22 onshore and offshore exploration blocks.
The Libya Energy & Economic Summit is set to take place in Tripoli on January 18-19, 2025. The event will bring together industry leaders, investors and policymakers, aiming to foster dialogue, secure investments and support the growth of Libya’s energy and infrastructure sectors. “The Libya Energy & Economic Summit is an international high-level summit, held here in Libya, with the goal of driving investment into the energy sector and exposing opportunities in our energy sector to global and Libyan partners,” stated Farhat Bengdara, Chairman of the NOC, in his official endorsement letter. “The NOC invites its partners worldwide and in Libya to participate in important discussions at the summit, and in bilateral meetings.”
The NOC plays a pivotal role as a partner to leading international oil companies (IOCs) operating in Libya, including France’s TotalEnergies, Italy’s Eni, Spain’s Repsol, Norway’s Equinor, British multinational bp and Algeria’s Sonatrach. Joint efforts include the launch of the Structures A&E project with Eni, set to produce 750 MMcf/d of natural gas from two offshore fields; a strategic partnership signed in June with global oil services leader SLB to enhance production and advance the technical capabilities of Libyan oil and gas professionals; and collaboration with OMV and Eni for ongoing exploration campaigns in the Sirte and Ghadames basins, respectively.
“The support of the NOC adds unparalleled credibility to LEES 2025. Their leadership and ambitious vision for Libya’s energy future make this event essential for investors, policymakers and energy stakeholders worldwide,” says James Chester, CEO of Energy Capital & Power.
