LEES 2025: Eni Expresses Interest in Libya’s 2025 Licensing Round

Energy major Eni has announced that it is interested in participating in Libya’s upcoming 2025 licensing round, which is set to offer 22 onshore and offshore exploration blocks for development.

The announcement was made on January 19 by Eni Libya Managing Director Mirko Araldi during a Fireside Chat at this year’s Libya Energy & Economic Summit 2025.

“We are very interested in Libya’s upcoming 2025 bid round,” Araldi stated, adding, “We are always interested in recharging our portfolio.”

Eni currently has four exploration wells in its 2025 pipeline in Libya.

Last September, the company confirmed plans to launch onshore exploration drilling activities in the Ghadames Basin this year. Meanwhile, Eni will also launch an offshore drilling campaign in the Sirte Basin by the end of 2025.

Eni jointly operates onshore exploration Areas A and B with supermajor bp and the Libyan Investment Authority in the Ghadames Basin.
