Lean in Equity & Sustainability Seeks New Collaborations in Libya

Global gender diversity and inclusion social impact organization Lean in Equity and Sustainability is committed to promoting greater participation by women in traditionally male-dominated industries. The company believes that Libya offers significant for opportunities, and through practical actions to encourage inclusion, the country stands to benefit from broader expertise and solutions.

Speaking in an interview with Energy Capital & Power at the Libya Energy & Economic Summit (LEES) 2025, Mounia Attiga, Energy & Sustainability Strategist & Chair, Lean in Equity and Sustainability: North Africa, said that there are practical actions the industry can take to promote greater participation by women in the energy sector.

“Practical actions include encouraging inclusion and participation by opening up career paths and making sure there is competency training. Additional actions include putting development and capacity building strategies in place to acquire leadership traits as well as the new skillset that is needed – what we call future skills,” she said.

Platforms such as LEES also promote greater participation by women while fostering a culture of inclusivity. According to Attiga, “It is my first time [at LEES] but it won’t be the last. I am delighted to participate and to see companies coming from all over the world. It sends a strong message that we are here, we would like to collaborate and discuss partnerships and to discuss the challenges and opportunities. [The event] plays a pivotal role in relaying this message.”
